[Asia News = Reporter Reakkana] On December 9, SM Entertainment released an announcement on all their SNS channels about SMTOWN’s upcoming winter album and concert. In the upcoming "SMCU Express," all of the agency's artists (Kangta, BoA, TVXQ, Super Junior, Girls' Generation-Oh!GG, SHINee, Red Velvet, NCT, aespa, and EXO are scheduled to join in the project. In accordance with the announcement, SM Entertainment will release SMTOWN’s winter album on December 27 and the artists' concert will be held on January 1, 2022.
SM Entertainment is one of the "Big 3" agencies, together with YG Entertainment and JYP Entertainment. Of the three, SM Entertainment has the largest number of K-pop artists. The "SMTOWN 2022" project, "SMCU EXPRESS," is scheduled to expand the worldview of the artist, named "Metaversal Origin Story" by Executive Producer Lee Soo Man, based on SMCU, or SM Culture Universe.
To experience future metaverse content, presentations, albums, and exhibitions will be shown in advance. The tour, "SMTOWN LIVE 2022: SMCU EXPRESS@KWANGYA," will be held on January 1, 2022. Prior to this, it has been held in major cities around the world since 2008 and it has set various records.
