[아시아뉴스통신=페이 기자] To mark the celebration of the National Heroes Day, the Philippine flag will be flown at half-mast here upon the approval of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) starting 12:01 a.m. of August 31 until 11:59 p.m. of September 6. Executive Order No. 139 issued by Mayor Jerry P. Treñas on Friday said the NHCP through its letter of recommendation has allowed to “fly flags at half-mast on all buildings and places where it is displayed within the territorial jurisdiction of Iloilo City to mourn for and in honor of the fallen front-liner”.
The mayor said a number of front-liners have “valiantly sacrificed their precious lives in the current battle against the Covid-19 pandemic”. “For purposes of half-masting the national flag, it shall first be hoisted to the peak for a moment then lowered to the half-mast position. The national flag shall again be raised to the peak before it is lowered for the day,” Treñas said in his EO.
In his regular press conference on Friday, Treñas announced that the city is proposed to be reclassified into the modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) from September 1 to 30 from its current GCQ status.
